    Discount Mortgages are growing increasingly popular with borrowers, and especially first time buyers.

    A Discount Mortgage gives the borrower a rate of interest that is set below the Standard Variable Rate (the lenders “standard interest rate”) for a specific period; anything from 6 months to 5 years.

    With a discounted rate the amount that you pay could vary in accordance with the SVR, but you will always pay a set percentage below the SVR; (i.e the amount of discount you get will always remain the same).
